  • Second Catholic Dogma: Perpetual Virginity

Is the praise that the Catholic Church gives to Mary hold up to scripture? Mary is worshipped as a goddess by the catholic community, however surprising little is said about Mary in the Bible. According to the Catholic Church, they have declared dogmas of Mary elevating her to goddess (don’t believe me, click on the links all from Catholic sources). Let’s examine

    Second Dogma: Perpetual Virginity
The virginity of our Blessed Lady was defined under anathema in the third canon of the Lateran Council held in the time of Pope Martin I, A.D. 649. St. Jerome devotes his entire treatise against Helvidius to the perpetual virginity of Our Blessed Lady (see especially nos. 4, 13, 18). The contrary doctrine is called:
    • "madness and blasphemy" by Gennadius (De dogm. eccl., lxix),
    • "madness" by Origen (in Luc., h, vii),
    • "sacrilege" by St. Ambrose (De instit. virg., V, xxxv),
    • "impiety and smacking of atheism" by Philostorgius (VI, 2),
    • "perfidy" by St. Bede (hom. v, and xxii),
    • full of blasphemies" by the author of Prædestin. (i, 84),
    • "perfidy of the Jews" by Pope Siricius (ep. ix, 3),
    • "heresy" by St. Augustine (De Hær. h., lvi).
This dogma simply states that Mary is a virgin always for her entire life any one who thinks otherwise is simply mad. There is no doubt Mary was a virgin at the time of Christ birth fulfilling the Isaiah’s prophecy (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23) however does the bible teach Mary was always a virgin.

Of Joseph we see the scripture telling us that he "knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.". Notice it says "he called his name JESUS" so we see here it is talking of Joseph naming the son Jesus and that he did not know her, that is as husband and wife know each other UNTIL Jesus was born. I could just stop here but on any one topic the bible has more then one scripture so let’s continue...

We see that other verses talked about Jesus brothers and sisters and names his brothers as James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas. It mentions his sisters in the following verse but not by name (Matthew 13:55-56, Mark 6:3).

At the foot of the Cross we see his mother Mary was there mention 3 times as mother of James and twice as mother of Joses which corresponds to the brothers of Jesus listed in name (Matthew 13:55, Mark 6:3).
    • Mary the mother of James and Joses (Matthew 27:56)
    • Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses (Mark 15:40)
    • Mary the mother of James (Luke 24:10)
    • his mother (John 19:25)
So It is clear that Jesus had brothers and Joseph and Mary had children after Jesus was born. Is it good for God to deny Joseph his wife after Jesus was born? The fallacy of the catholic church to insist on Mary's virginity is beyond madness as if the fact Mary had children with Joseph makes her unclean, defiled or impure?

    God Bless, In Jesus Name
And ye shall know the truth, and

the truth shall make you free

    John 8:32
